A few people have e-mailed us in the last week to tell us that they had tried posting a comment, but kept getting an error message. Apparently, whenever some readers tried to post a comment, they would get an “error 403” message telling them,
We’re sorry, but we could not fulfill your request for /wp-comments-post.php on this server
We think we have fixed the problem now, so hopefully this won’t happen again. However, because some comments were getting through, we didn’t realise this was happening until those readers alerted us to the problem. [Thank you to Wes, Phil & Robin for independently letting us know of the problem!]
We were able to restore all of the attempted comments from the last 7 days, but unfortunately the relevant logs don’t go back any further.
So, we would like to apologise to anybody else who tried to comment, but couldn’t.
If anybody finds that they’re still unable to post a comment, could you send us an e-mail to let us know?
We do hope to get back to posting here soon. We also are in the process of finishing updates to the versions of two of our papers at OPRJ in light of the various comments and reviews we’ve had on our paleoclimate review and pervection papers.
But, in the meantime, for any readers who are on Twitter, feel free to follow me (Ronan): @1RonanConnolly
